Description
Job Summary:
The Applications Engineer designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software applications and components. Supports and/or installs software applications and components. Works from written specifications and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and maintains documentation of process flow.
Job Description:
- Utilize established development tools, guidelines and conventions including but not limited to Visual Studio, VB.NET, ASP.NET, SQL Server, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Create and deliver data-driven reports using SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services), and Crystal Reports.
- Design, code and test new Windows and web software applications.
- Enhance existing systems by analyzing business objectives, preparing an action plan and identifying areas for modification and improvement.
- Maintain existing software systems by identifying and correcting software defects.
- Investigate and develop skills in new technologies.
- Create technical specifications and test plan.
- Create new and extend existing operational documentation.
- Consult closely with management and occasionally agency staff related to projects and tasks.
- Consult colleagues concerning maintenance and performance of software system.
| Requirements |
Knowledge/Skills:
Successful candidates will likely have a have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or have the demonstrated ability to complete the tasks required.
- Strong knowledge of the .Net Framework development platform with an emphasis on VB.Net and ASP.Net.
- Experience with the following development technologies: WCF Services, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
- Experience with SQL Server 2008, including database design, procedure and function creation, and optimizing data for fast access.
- Good understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and computer science foundations.
- Strong knowledge of software implementation best practices.
- Ability to create and maintain data heavy applications using Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase server.
- Knowledge of user interface design.
- Dotnetnuke Website Content management and administration a plus.
- C# experience a plus, but not required.
- Mobile Application experience a plus, but not required.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and troubleshoot issues.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to an existing, complex environment.
- Ability to quickly learn new concepts and software when necessary.
- Candidate should be a self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player and exhibit exceptional relationship management skills.
- Passionate about building high-quality systems with software implementation best practices.
Other Requirements:
- Requires prolonged sitting.
- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components.
