Summary:
This position is for a Systems Engineer that has Windows OS and VMware virtualization skills to work on a global divestiture program. It is essential that the candidate have at least 3-5 years of VMWare experience and had some experience with physical to virtual consolidation projects in the past. In addition, the candidate must be able to setup new windows servers (2003, 2007, 2008, 2013). A standard 40 hour work week is expected with some weekend work likley. In addition, some travel may be required so a passport may be needed.
The following is a summary of the skills required and the duties that the candidate will be expected to perform:
Essential Duties
o Baseline Systems Performance prior to virtualization/relocation
o Analyze system performance after virtualization/relocation
o Plan and design virtualized environment based on site system needs
o Serve as an interface to the project team/site team to troubleshoot and identify any sever/performance issues
o Ensure that all appropriate documentation is created or updated as needed
o Build systems to Jabil baseline standards
o Deploy fixes/patches to servers in response to newly identified stability or security threats
Required Skills
o Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows server products (2003, 2008, 2012)
o Extensive experience with VMware products
o Knowledge of and understanding of Microsoft clustering services
o Extensive knowledge and understanding of HP Servers / ESX environments
o Good understanding of EMC SAN platforms
o MCSE Certification
o VMware VCP certified preferred
o CA Arc serve Experience preferred
o Ability to remotely configure servers using ILO
o Solid understanding of Windows AD
• Architecture design and advanced understanding of application systems and hardware platforms within an existing or Green-Field environment
• Creation of architectural diagrams and support documentation
• Perform installation and problem analysis of system software/hardware, often remotely, with a range of platforms: Blade, Single Server, Farm, etc..
• Configuring, debugging and supporting multiple Systems or storage infrastructure platforms such as Windows, Linux, HP, Cisco, EMC, etc..
• Creating BOMs and obtaining Quotes for said BOMs, as well as, leveraging vendors for preferred pricing
• Leading engineering calls with internal and external peers to drive architectural consensus and resolution
• Interface with Application owners and external vendors
• Initiate remedy and proactively identify solutions to events or roadblocks
