BACKFILL POSITION:       

Position: Sr.Big Data Developer/Architect

Location: Piscataway, NJ

Duration: 6 months or more

 

 

Responsibilities:

Looking for Big Data Architect/Developer to work as part of an advanced technology team to investigate Big Data architectures. The candidate will be expected to work independently or as part of a small team. The position will entail looking across existing platforms to see how Big Data solutions may be applied to enhance the platforms. In addition to improvements in existing platforms, we will also be looking to develop new systems that leverage off of Big Data architectures. The candidate is expected to be hands on, and often will be required to build proof of concepts as well as work with developments teams to guide the migration of solutions into the cloud.

 

Works on software development initiatives of diverse scope and on complex problems requiring a high level of ingenuity and creativity gained through years of practical experience. Frequently contributes to the development of new principles, theories and methods. Often self-initiated, work is usually performed independently with minimal direction from manager. May provide technical leadership to less experienced professional staff, as either a generalist or specialist within area of expertise.

 

Required Qualifications:

6+ years related development experience with a BS; 4-6 years' development experience with an MS.

 

Strong experience in:

Working with Big Data and Cloud technologies.

Must have worked in a significant way developing and deploying on Hadoop Clusters using MapReduce, as well as having solid experience using Columnar Databases and traditional databases including MySQL or Oracle.

Programming on Linux based OS using Java, Python (or equivalent).

Experience developing/using Web services, RESTful interfaces.
