Job Description for Data Modeler  Consultant

 

Main Responsibilities:

As part of the DW BI Redesign project the current Sales Reporting data warehouse will be redesigned and rebuilt.  The goals of this project are to rebuild the FMG Data Warehouse based on the business requirements and high technical standards, implement a more simplified, efficient and extensible Data Warehouse with minimum architectural complexity to provide better, higher quality reporting, data analysis and a consistent view of data across various source systems and provide FMG Sales managers and team members with easy access to high quality, consistent and timely sales reporting that is flexible enough to change as the business evolves.

 

• Understand  DW, ETL and BI technical architecture
• Analyze business processes and reporting requirements
• Consume DW Bus Matrix for data modeling
• Participate in data model design pattern discussions within data modeling team
• Create conceptual/logical/physical Data Models with other data modelers for DW including ETL processing data structure by using ERwin
• Follow model management process, data naming standards, data modeling strategy and guidelines for using ERwin during data modeling
• Generate base DDL scripts from ERwin and maintain them through version control tool (Subversion)
• Communicate with the DBA team for physical database implementation and performance tuning
• Provide technical metadata for Source to Target data mapping
• Document data model change details and keep all the related documents up-to-date.
