Mid Level Linux Engineers - Germantown, MD

Job Description:

MUST HAVE TOP SKILLS:

·         Linux (RedHat Vs. 6)

·         VMWare

·         Scripting

 

 

About the Project:

·         Will be working with 50-60 other engineers

·         Will be supporting 200-250 Linux servers

o   Would be open to considering someone who has approximately supported 100 but not 5

·         Will be working with Thousands of VM's

·         Will be helping to evaluate new products and work with vendors

 

Key Responsibilities:

·         Setup and maintain server hardware and operating system.

·         Management and troubleshooting of VMware vSphere infrastructure

·         Work with Development Engineering team to achieve project related goals

·         Utilized asset management system to keep investors and system status up to date

·         Evaluate and recommend new and emerging products and technologies

·         Automate operations by writing scripts

·         Infrastructure and process documentation

 

Qualifications:

·         Associate degree in a related field or equivalent work experience in the Linux system administration and VMware field.

·         At least 5 years' experience in System Administration of Linux servers (RedHat and CentOS).

·         At least 2 years of experience in VMware vSphere and vCenter Administration and Deployment.

·         Experience in troubleshooting server issues related to systems and applications such as Apache, DNS.

·         Experience with system hardening and familiarity with iptables and selinux.

·         Experience with data center servers including blade servers from HP and Dell.

·         Experience with shared enterprise storage (NFS and SAN protocols, Netapp, EMC, etc).

·         Knowledge of network and web related protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, routing protocols)

·         Scripting skills (e.g., Perl, Python, shell scripting)

·         Excellent written and verbal communications skills
