Job Description
The mobile application architect requires strong problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as creativity and the ability to work with abstract concepts. The successful candidate must possess the ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment with business executives, technical teams and end-users to successfully develop applications.
The application architect is a technical leader for new application projects who must recommend technical strategies, and then document the functional design of the product. The architect translates business needs to the technical team and assigns programming and development tasks to the technical staff. The architect also assists technical staff and resolves any technical issues during development.
The architect evaluates the product, testing and modifying the application until the functionality meets business goals. This includes working with technical teams and end-users to ensure the application functions appropriately. When the application is ready for deployment, the architect provides documentation, training and support to the organization to ensure the highest level of performance and quality.
The Architect daily responsibilities include the following:
• Develop and execute both business and technical implementation strategies that ensure successful product delivery across multiple, diverse cross functional teams using AT&T Product Realization process guidelines. These responsibilities include developing and validating requirements, managing the project scope, risk mitigation, and issue management.
• Provide technical system solutions and determine overall design for new and existing mobile products/services.
• Responsible for multiple projects and/or large complex projects with cross functional teams and business processes – providing in-depth business and technical knowledge.
• Demonstrate expert knowledge in multiple technical and business functional areas as well as performing a larger leadership role in the organization.
• Provides leadership and is responsible for the technical integrity within multiple subsystems, device hardware/components, mobile platforms, and/or applications - understanding the system flow for a project throughout an entire functional area.
• Apply broad in-depth business and technical knowledge to establish technical direction and priorities.
• Effectively monitor and take action to ensure coordination and effectiveness of all components and activities and decide on issues requiring escalation.
• Provides technical expertise to generate maintainable, quality solutions. Includes documenting system requirements, creating application designs, validating high level designs to ensure accuracy and completeness against the business requirements and programming the solutions – responsible artifacts including for use cases, high-level architecture, detailed architecture, test plans/results, etc.
• Coordinate with Product Realization, IT, Application Providers, Device Engineering, OEMs, Network Planning & Engineering, Marketing, etc…
• Resolve design issues and develop strategies to make ongoing improvements that support system flexibility and performance - resolve and work on issues across multiple functional areas.
• Assess the technical feasibility of new technologies to enable integration into existing processes.
• Assume responsibility and drive ownership for issue resolution and senior leadership reporting.
• Responsible for vendor management of product, applications, devices and platforms.
• Ensure all business systems, IT systems, vendor platforms and networks are in place to support the offer and that the technical design accurately represents the requirements.
• Continuously streamline and implement improvements to ensure processes are scalable for growth and utilize resources in the most effective manner possible.
Accountable for on time product delivery, product quality, cost, and operations Job Qualifications:
• 10+ years experience in new product development / application delivery / device realization
• 5+ years experience in delivery of new mobile devices and/or mobile applications
• Previous work experience with a mobile device OEM preferred
• Technical experience in one or more of the following areas:
o Mobile messaging systems
o VOIP
o Video
o Mobile device OS' (Android, iOS, RIM, WinPhone)
o Social network integration
o Wireless standards such as MMS, SyncML, OMTP, OAuth
o Wireless services and wireless data
• Proven ability to successfully lead and motivate cross-functional teams
• Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically when implementing products and solving problems
• Ability to work on and track multiple projects simultaneously and accommodate to rapid rate of change in wireless industry
• Highly organized and process oriented
• Strong written, verbal and oral presentation skills required
• Expertise in both Product and Software Development Lifecycle
• Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, & Visio require
