Job/ Role Description
Seeking a Linux Administrator to support and manage hardware inventory and provide application support across Visualization & Reporting horizontal. Candidate will have design and development experience at the application level on Linux and Windows platforms. Deep understanding of Linux and Linux scripting is needed to maintain environment and processes supporting application packages. Good analytical and debugging skills needed to support new functionality being turned on in package along with ingestion of new interfaces. Day to day duties encompass troubleshooting application related issues, environment preparations and automation of processes and documentation.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Provisioning and Configuration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux on HP standalone servers and blades located in regional multiple data centers
Maintain accurate machine inventory
Monitor status of systems and configure notification
Work with colleagues locally and in overseas offices to form and build and application environment and setup deployment standards
Create and maintain documentation for operating system and related applications deployment; both for general and special projects
Perform the requirement analysis for new applications and Order hardware for projects
Automate code deployment and support environment tuning
Expert with Korn shell scripting
Troubleshooting environment issues and application related issues and provide 3rd level of support
Memory and Performance profiling for the application on Linux platform
Experience all aspects of the project life-cycle, from design and development to routine support
Experience with Version Control (Subversion) and code maintenance
Work on all phases of the SDLC - from minor bug fixes to enhancement design and implementation
Good working knowledge of Java systems development/programming
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with multitasking
Other network protocols/services (SOAP, LDA/Active Directory)
Skill set Qualifications:
6-8 years of extensive experience with managing applications on Unix or Linux platforms
5-7 years of Application/Production support experience with troubleshooting the issues and providing 3rd level support to the support team.
3-5 years development and or Unix/Linux Administration experience
3-5 years Unix scripting languages (e.g., Korn, C shell)
3-5 years of experience with automated code deployment across different environment.
1-2 years of experience with Business Intelligence data visualization tools like Datawatch, Tableau, Qlikview, Microstrategy, Spotfire preferred.
Experience with generating the architectural diagrams, operating model, process management etc. and presentation with senior management.
Thorough experience with client facing environment for reviewing user requirements, capture the environment sizing to be requested and generate documents that describes the installation and operating procedures.
Essential Skills/Competencies:
Red Hat Linux Administration, Linux, Linux Scripting (vi editor), Unix Administration, Awk, Data Analysis, Data Analytics/Business Intelligence, Document Management via Sharepoint and Confluence, Subversion, Teamcity for build management, Ctrl M or any other scheduling tool, SDLC model with agile methodologies, Java, Java programming, Build tools Maven
