Job Summary

The Information Security Analyst is responsible for planning and implementing security measures to protect computer systems, networks, and data. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring of the IT security infrastructure, developing of technical security requirements and policies, monitoring the effectiveness of the existing IT security framework, making recommendations for enhancements, and raising the level of security awareness.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include:

• Implement, monitor, maintain, and configure key security initiatives, including data encryption and HIPAA framework.

• Deploy suite of security tools, including URL filtering, SIEM, IDS/IPS, APT's, AV, VA scanner.

• Manage/administer Cisco firewalls and other security appliances.

• Perform vulnerability scans and/or analyze results from vulnerable scans, and assist with the remediation as necessary.

• Report concerns of residual risk, vulnerabilities, and other security exposures, including misuse of information assets and non-compliance.

• Perform product evaluations and recommend and implement products/services for information security-related hardware and software.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience, strongly preferred.

• Professional certification(s) in CISSP, CISA, or CISM a plus.

• Must have 4-6 years experience in a networking and information security role.

• Must have strong project management skills.

• Must have experience with vulnerability management scanning platforms.

• Must be knowledgeable in DLP, SIEM, AV, APT and Vulnerability Analysis principles.

• Must demonstrate ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential material and information with suitable discretion.

• Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor, and must be able to work effectively with all levels of personnel and vendors.

• Must have a strong working knowledge of web filtering applications and technologies, including Websense.

• Must have experience is deploying encryption systems.

• Must have strong troubleshooting skills utilizing tcp dump, packet analyzers (such as Tripwire), and packet captures/sniffers.

• Must have high-level understanding of networking in a Cisco environment.

• Must have excellent written, communication, and phone skills.

• Must have strong documentation skills.

• Must be able to teach and consult with all levels of on-site staff and vendor support staff.

• Must be an independent worker with the ability to problem solve and prioritize tasks with minimum supervision.

• Must be well organized, detailed, and thorough in approach to all job functions.
