Job Description:

 

Title:               MySQL DBA 

Location:        Columbus, IN

Duration:        6+ Months

 

 
Required Skills:

·         Create, maintain and monitor our database environment that is highly available and high performing.

·         Implementation, configuration of MySQL database

·         Implement HA solution and define Backup/Recovery strategy

·         Plan, drive and implement capacity planning and best practices

·         Participate in planning, maintenance and implementation of all aspects of database disaster recovery

·         Set database performance best practices. Review and approve all database schema and procedure changes.

·         Must be highly proficient in all aspects of database administration. Including, but not limited to, backup/recovery/DR, all flavors of replication, clustering, advanced performance tuning, and proactive monitoring

·         Willing to expand knowledge of other data technologies, including MongoDB, Redis, HBase, and Hive.

·         Should have the skills to triage issues in an end-to-end manner with awareness of how web, application and caching tiers impact database performance and availability.

·         Rapidly diagnose and fix problems

·         Database performance tuning which includes Instance tuning and DB tuning.

·         DB Parameter tuning (Semaphores, Shared Memory etc.)

·         Daily maintenance and monitoring activities

·         Contribution towards migration / upgrade of database if needed.

·         Contribution to build Hierarchical replication and synchronization of instances

·         On-call responsibility (including weekends), if required.

·         MySQL Database Administrator Certification, a plus

Secondary Skills:

·         Will be highly motivated, enthusiastic and detail-oriented.

·         Excellent communication skills.

·         6 + years of experience as a MySQL DBA (MySQL 5.6+) in a transactional environment.

·         Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or similar, preferred

·         Must thrive in fast paced, results driven environment, Experience on Agile methodology.
