Please send resume on paul@innosoul.com

Position   : MySQL Admin
Location  : Seattle, WA
Duration  : 10 Months

MySQL Admin with SQL Server, Drupal, Red Hat Linux, clustering, backup/recovery, storage, security and training experience.

2.1 Background
Sound Transit is planning a migration of its customer facing web site from its existing, more rudimentary implementation to a Drupal-based framework. Both the website itself and Drupal's content management component require a relational database to enable its operation. Based on this need and the constraints imposed by Drupal, Sound Transit is adopting MySQL as a second standard database platform, with Microsoft SQL Server being the primary. This new technology adoption represents a gap in skills for the current project need as well as ongoing operations and maintenance needs. This effort is intended to provide the project-specific engineering, production support, and some just-in-time training for Sound Transit DBA's until such time that they can complete formal training.

2.3 Scope of Work
Sound Transit seeks a senior database administrator with mastery of MySQL and SQL Server for a contract of limited time to provide four high-level bodies of work: 1) detailed design of the MySQL implementation, 2) implementation of that design, 3) cross training Sound Transit's SQL Server DBAs on key concepts to enable their ongoing operations and maintenance of the platform, and 4) provide production support of the new system, which includes backfilling existing DBAs on non-MySQL work so they have capacity to learn and grow their MySQL capabilities. These bodies of work are described below in more detail. Throughout all phases the contractor must work with the Sound Transit project manager to lay out a basic timeline for implementation of the various components

2.5 Work Requirements
Detailed Design of MySQL
The conceptual design for the MySQL need is defined below. This need is purely conceptual – the contractor must engage with the Drupal development team to understand the details around the required database and server environments, the necessary configurations, constraints, etc., and then synthesize what the actual implementation should be. This planned implementation should be documented and communicated back to and Sound Transit's development, infrastructure and DBA teams for approval.
Conceptual Need:
1. Production website database environment to be a highly available cluster, located on-premises, based on Red Hat Linux
2. Production content management database environment, located on-premises, based on Red Hat Linux. Design efforts should evaluate if this should be a highly-available cluster or not
3. Test database environment, not clustered, not highly-available, located on-premises, based on Red Hat Linux
4. Development database environment, not clustered, not highly-available, located on-premises, based on Red Hat Linux
5. Security model that supports the application needs while appropriately supporting the segregation of duties
6. Databases must be designed and implemented with respect to appropriate network security zones

Best Regards,
Paul
