Job Description

 

This position is responsible for ETL development leveraging SSIS, Informatica, and stored procedures against the Customer Insights and Enterprise Data Warehouses at URBN. This position requires an expert command of ANSI SQL, dynamic SQL/stored procedures, proficiency with primarily Informatica as an ETL platform, and proficiency with data modeling. This resource will work closely with the other members of the enterprise data team to ascertain expert understanding of the data models and table contents, and leverage stored procedures to roll out data warehouse enhancements. As a member of the ETL team, this resource is responsible for leveraging ETL best practices as well support any corporate analysis projects and business user data inquiries. Ideally this resource is a well-spoken, organized, self-motivated individual who continues to learn about emerging technologies and is able to deliver expert-quality, timely results.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the requirements gathering, development and rollout of major projects on the solution platform
• Drive and develop new data import/export or other transformation exercises
• Work directly with reporting team to ensure ongoing operational and new work complies with requirements and ETL best practice and audit standards
• Provide ad-hoc support for advanced strategic data analysis initiatives
• Act as the go-to expert on all underlying transformation logic against data in the data warehouse
• Support business user questions about the data and provide documentation and training when and where necessary
• Support campaign and report developers with data inquiries or new data requests
• Drive and participate in all new data aggregation / snapshot processes

 

SKILLS

• B.A. or applicable degree and/or equivalent work experience
• Informatica proficiency, SSIS experience is a plus
• Experience with developing stored procedures against SQL Server, Oracle or Netezza databases
• Experience with design methodologies related to reusable components and code
• Experience with retail or e-commerce data models
• At least 5 years of data warehousing ETL work
• At least 3 years of data modeling experience
• Ability to think and communicate critically in order to support and facilitate strategic data warehouse extension and analytical initiatives
• Expert knowledge of data modeling concepts, data warehouse and data aggregation processes and strategies
• Previous experience with a corporate BI tool (MicroStrategy)
