60-minute in-person interview. Willing to consider local and non-local candidates, but will not cover relocation costs.
Overview:
· We are a highly collaborative team of engineers, builders and problem solvers that share an open lab environment. We get excited about mobile apps, retail, innovation, hackathons and collaborative work styles.
· This role is part of a larger product team that builds, supports and promotes APIs and our developer website. Our customers are developers. This role will build the organizations external APIs and the tools we provide for developers.
· Specific tasks will vary, but mainly it's writing code for a variety of changes to an existing application for our open APIs.
Requirements:
- At least five years of relevant systems software engineering experience and a BS/MS in computer science or engineering (or equivalent professional experience).
- Experience building high-performance, highly-available and scalable distributed systems
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Experience with large database driven applications and/or distributed computing
- Aggressive Refactoring
- API Design Experience
- Experience with web development, REST, HTTP, Java, Ruby, Data, NoSQL, XML, json
- Experience with TDD, Agile, Paired Programming
- Knowledge and working experience of open source software (e.g. Apache, Tomcat, MongoDB, Memcache, etc.)
- Experience in configuring new services using HA Proxy and Apache.
- Experience working with Linux.
- Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS, Hadoop, etc.)
Nice to Have:
- Any level of experience as a MYSQL DBA and/or NoSQL is a plus
- Experience with SOLR.
- Experience with API gateway platforms (e.g. Apigee, Mashery, etc.)
- Knowledge of modern Deployment and Configuration Management tools such as Opscode Chef
- Ability and aptitude to dig into and solve challenging problems and proactively avoid problems
- Scripting, automation and troubleshooting of processes and systems; scripting in the shell and at least one of the following: Groovy, Ruby, Perl or Python
- Networks, security, firewalls, load balancers, DNS and other infrastructure components
