Job Title: Unix System Admin
Location: Houston, TX.
Duration: 3 Months CTH
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Number Of Years Of Experience 4 - 9
Expectations
Should possess good OS knowledge across all versions of Unix, Solaris, Redhat Linux and or AIX platforms
Proven server maintenance experience including compliance break remediation and OS level patching (service pack, functional and CSIRT)
Experience of associated product upgrades including EMC power-path and VERITAS System Admin 4. Capable of planning and executing critical tasks independently
Responsibilities
Will be part of the (PLM) Production Lifecycle Maintenance support team supporting the patching, OS and Firmware upgrades across all Unix / Linux / AIX physical and virtual servers globally
Ability to troubleshooting operating system and server hardware issues at Level 2 skill set
Ability to collaborate with Level 2 and Level 3 teams when issues arise that requires additional support. (Priority one issues)
Supporting all service delivery resiliency, efficiency and Audit programs tied to compliance around server maintenance
Following company engineering standards and products which are integrated across the Windows physical and virtual platforms
Implementing, measuring, and improving all processes, procedures, and activities required to ensure maximum availability, utility, flexibility, and responsiveness of the production environment
Will be part of vendor engagement model
Technical writing skills with the ability to create or modify run-books as needed
Technical Skills
Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in Unix (Solaris, RHEL, AIX)
Advanced knowledge across all supported platforms (Solaris, RHEL, AIX)
Complete understanding of the various methods of OS patching, Firmware updates and the toolsets that are used to execute the function
Understanding of security best practices for multi-tiered operating systems
Understanding of backup process, system monitoring, performance tuning disaster recovery and scripting for Solaris and/or Linux based OS
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Tivoli and SunMC
Ability to write shell scripts
Knowledge of Open SSH
Knowledge of Sun F15 and E25K platforms and SMS a plus
Knowledge of OpsWare a plus
Solaris 9/10 Problem Solving skills
Experience working in any of 6800/10K/15K/25K or Mseries System controllers
Solaris Volume Manager experience
Veritas Volume Manger experience
Solaris ZFS and Ldom experience required
Preferred:
PMP
Veritas Cluster experience/knowledge
Veritas Netbackup experience/knowledge
Linux OS problem solving experience/knowledge
SAN experience/Knowledge
VMware/VIC experience/Knowledge
ITIL certified
