Job Title: Cognos Business Intelligence Administrator
Duration: 6 months
Location: Chicago, IL
Interview process: Phone + face to face.
Client is requesting that candidates be local for a F2F.

Job Summary
The Cognos Business Intelligence Administrator position will be
responsible for the successful maintenance and growth of the Cognos
environment. They will work closely within IT to ensure system
stability and performance is at the highest possible levels. They
will work with the Infrastructure and Architecture teams to ensure the
best practices for a BI implementation are followed for both Data
Warehousing and Enterprise Reporting. The individual that fills this
role will have the opportunity to work closely with a team that
encourages development and collaboration with the immediate goal of
supporting the BI Team for a leading Hospitality Company.

Responsibilities
· Administer multiple Cognos environments
· Deploy BI Application reports/packages to all environments
· Proactive approach to BI Application monitoring
· Working with IBM for resolving PMRs
· Understand, test and implement Software upgrade/fix packs to
Cognos environment
· Implement best practices for Cognos Environment Security
· Configure new database connections and access control with
the Cognos Administration tool
· Participate in:
o Cognos architecture
o Cognos query tuning
o Cognos capacity planning

· Work closely with development and infrastructure groups to
ensure system stability and monitoring
· Performance tuning of the Cognos BI Components
· As needed, Production support duties during off-hours and weekends



Required Skills
Basic understanding of:
Cognos BI Suite of Tools
Framework Manager
OLAP analysis and cube development
Industry tools and standards

Experience with Dynamic Query Mode (DQM) and Compatible Query Mode (CQM)
Experience with Dynamic Cubing Services
Experience with SQL Server or DB2 Databases – Preferred
Ability to install/monitor/update in Windows environment
Experience with complex multi-server environments
Experience with High Availability environments (24/7)
Fundamental UNIX/Windows Scripting skills
Fundamental Network and IT infrastructure knowledge
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information
Technology or related field or equivalent work experience.
