Hadoop / Java Developer
This team helps us ensure that data and insights move through the analytic stack reliably and efficiently so we can create predictive analytics from petabytes of data. The work will involve support implementing analytic and sampling jobs in MapReduce and building new products in large scale ETL processes and high performance service and message oriented architectures.
Qualifications
We are seeking a senior Java developer who has participated in at least one major Hadoop or a similar MapReduce implementation. They will need a strong background in traditional database technologies (SQL, ETL), scripting (Perl) and Entity Relationship and Dimensional Modeling. We need someone with proven ability to design and implement new software solutions in a ”green field” environment. Other expertise needs to include:
• Object oriented programming & concurrency (threading, semaphores, non-blocking techniques, asynchronous event handling).
• Java bitwise operations.
• Familiarity with message brokers such as ActiveMQ and/or RabbitMQ.
• Transactional NoSQL/document-oriented data stores such as Redis and MongoDB.
• Understanding of common data structures (arrays, hash tables, trees, linked lists).
• Hashing and cryptographic techniques.
• Version control systems (git, Subversion, Bazaar, hg (Mercurial), and MS Team Foundation.
• Automated Testing using xUnit tools.
• Agile SDLC participant (Extreme Programming, Scrum, or Unified Process).
• Experience writing specs in TDD/BDD environments.
• Plus Skills
• Expertise with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins/Hudson.
• Working knowledge of Clojure, Scala, Ruby, Python, Haskell, or Erlang
