Job Description

The goal of this role is to establish an enterprise search platform and practice to solve specific business problems and the general challenge of "finding information" inside the enterprise to leverage what we know.

Key Responsibilities

·         Work with Enterprise Search Practice business resources to identify business challenges and new opportunities where the search capability can be leveraged to deliver business value.

·         Provide seamless on-boarding and reduce time-to-market for enterprise applications to deliver search capabilities.  As part of the onboarding process, conduct assessments of content and security models.

·         Lead the development of search applications, connectors, and feeds as necessary.  Ensure all solution designs are compliant with technology guiding principles and standards of the Company.

·         Define and report on metrics to measure the success of all search initiatives. 

·         Accountable for search platform and integration into applications.

·         Maintain and evolve the search roadmap to realize the enterprise search strategy.

·         Define search reference architectures, patterns, and standards.

·         Release management for enterprise search platform and enterprise search application.

·         Engage with security resources to address risks of enterprise search exposing content that is not properly secured.

·         Participate in data quality initiatives targeted at understanding the impact of data shortcomings on search effectiveness.

·         Define and evolve ongoing search optimization processes.

·         Manage search vendor relationships, monitor product direction, and ensure TCCC desired enhancements are clearly communicated and prioritized with vendors.

·         Lead the evaluation and implementation of new enterprise search tools and capabilities.

Qualifications

·         Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

·         At least 7 years of relevant experience in Information Technology

The ideal candidate will have the following competencies:

·         System Design: Knowledge of system design procedures and the ability to translate functional business requirements into an application or process to meet clients' needs that also meets all relevant Company standards.

·         IT Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the key directional trends and emerging technologies in the Enterprise Search and Knowledge Management industry, including knowledge of the key vendors, their strategic and tactical plans, and internal/external advisory services.

·         Technical Writing: Knowledge of and ability to apply effective design principles to communicate complex and detailed information across various communication vehicles and global environments.

·         Technology Architecture & Standards Knowledge: Knowledge of the Company's technology architecture standards and standard technology solutions.

·         Application Development Methodology: Ability to apply the standard application development methods covering the full development lifecycle to ensure solution quality and consistency of process.

Experience

Experience in the following areas is strongly desired :

·         Implementing an enterprise search solution and establishing a practice/center of excellence in a Fortune 100 Company

·         Working with the Google Search Appliance, or similar enterprise search solution, to index a variety of content sources using crawling, connector and feed approaches

·         Integrating search service into enterprise applications and websites

·         Establishing and governing search and content standards

Knowledge

 

·         Google Search Appliance or similar enterprise search engine

·         Online and mobile usage metrics and technologies

·         SEO and usage behavior best practices and technologies

·         Proficient understanding of the majority of the following:

 

1.       Web Services (SOAP, REST, XML), SOA, layered architectures, components, interfaces, messaging and patterns, Apigee

2.       SharePoint 2010

3.       Force.com and Chatter

4.       Adobe CQ, WordPress

5.       Java, .NET, and LAMP stacks

6.       Web: Java, HTML, HTML5, Javascript, xslt

7.       Application Servers: Tomcat

8.       LDAP, Identity and Access Management, application security
