We have an urgent position of Data Architect with one of our direct client in California.
Contract: July 22, 2013 through June 30, 2014
Location: Sacramento, CA
DATA ARCHITECT :
The Data Architect will lead architectural design, provides guidance on SAS Big Data solutions, access patterns, data redundancy, and scalability solutions. The Data Architect understands the technical opportunities as well as limitations of the various technologies and provides recommended solutions accordingly.
Establishment of a Big Data practice including, but not limited to:
• Develop technology roadmap for a big data practice
• Work with the business intelligence team and other business and IT stakeholders to develop a big data plan/roadmap
• Define the roles and responsibilities of a big data practice
• Educate business and mentor technical teams on big data practices
• Develop big data uses cases and case studies
• Perform as a Big data Architect for the enterprise
• Provide expertise in statistical and predictive data architecture using various Tools like NLP etc
Business intelligence data developmental delivery services including, but not limited to:
• Hands on development on no SQL databases and HDFS/Hbase/Hadoop framework
• Provide development support on complex big data queries and data scaling
• Provide expert level data scaling development experience using Java/Python
Business intelligence data administration delivery services including, but not limited to:
• Hands-on DBA work on setting up Hadoop/HDFS big data cluster
• Manage big data databases and do data scaling
• Provide expert level ETL experience in converting unstructured data to structured data using Hive/Pig and other transformational engines
• Hands-on DBA work on dimensional and archival data bases including OLAP
Minimum Qualifications
Depending on the resource, one of the following three minimum qualifications apply:
Senior Technical Specialist/Lead: Functions as a big data architect for setting up a big data practice, and provides the architectural direction and guidance to enterprise systems, and may act in a lead capacity or may participate with other analysts on projects of a complex nature or broad scope.
• Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience performing architecture work for complex big data projects and initiatives; performing enterprise applications integration (EAI); defining and developing shared services architectures; designing and developing data architectures; and/or defining enterprise technology architectures; at least two (2) years of said big data experience must have been at a high level both technically and in measure of responsibility
• Must be able to analyze data and interpret, identify and solve problems, reason logically, draw valid conclusions, and develop effective solutions
• Must be able to apply creative thinking in the design of methods for processing data
• Must be able to identify big data use cases and establish implementation methodologies related to big data
Common to all categories
Minimum Qualifications
• Must have the ability to reason logically and creatively and use a variety of analytical and research techniques to solve complex problems; analyze situations and propose an effective course of action; analyze data; identify the need for and provide creative thinking related to complex problems, develop and evaluate alternatives
• Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a variety of audience types using different mechanisms including informal updates, formal presentations, business case documents, and other analytical and technical documents
• Must have participated in at least two (2) or more successfully completed projects
• Must possess a strong understanding of information technology fundamentals, project management fundamentals, and systems development life cycle
• Must have the ability to establish and maintain strong cooperative working relationships and to use inter-disciplinary teams effectively in managing project tasks and activities under the direction of the Project Manager

Although we do not expect every individual to have every qualification below, it is expected that all consultants do bring one or more of the following:

• Various Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) related Analytics – Financial, Human Capital, Supply Chain, Corporate Operations
• Risk Analytics
• Agile Project Management and Development
• In-memory Architecture experience
• Unstructured Data experience
