3 month Software Developer - Sr.
With the option to extend another 3 months or more if needed.
Work Summary
The candidate filling this Software Developer � Sr. position will formulate, define, and document the system scope and objectives for assigned projects. These projects and IT capabilities are frequently transitioning from the research area to an IT production implementation and involve statistical analysis techniques and complex data file manipulation. In addition, a critical function of this job will be to develop and implement SAS programs to manipulate and validate the operational data feeds to the Statistical Analysis area.
Responsibilities
· Formulating and defining system scope and objectives for assigned projects.
· Gathering requirements and documentation, unit test case development, and defining and documenting the integration testing of new applications.
· Implement complex data file manipulation involving matching, merging, cleaning and modifying operational testing program data (primarily using SAS)
· Assist in setting and maintaining Incoming and Outgoing Data Quality Standards.
· Ensure that statistical analysis requirements are met for assigned projects.
· Translating complicated technical issues into clear language in stakeholder documentation.
· Preparation of clear detailed specifications from which programs will be written by team developers.
· Consultation with Company's Systems and Technology staff in the modification, design and implementation of systems or projects using multiple processing techniques and system technologies, database and structured design techniques.
· Analyze data; prepare time, personal and equipment cost estimates for the project.
· Work with Company's business, research, operations, and technology areas, as well as third party vendor staff to implement data certification and manipulation technologies and transition the support of the systems to a production environment.
· Develop and evaluate unit testing plans to ensure design requirements are met.
· Provide technical knowledge of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming and have a good understanding of the business or function for which the applications are designed.
· Responsible for contributing to the design and development of technologies for executing large and complex data analysis projects.
· Design and check complex data file manipulation rules involving matching, merging, cleaning and modifying operational testing program data
Experience: The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of SAS data analysis/programming experience. The person must demonstrate strong knowledge and experience with the responsibilities outlined above including systems analysis, and SAS macro programming. Experience with workflow and document management is highly desirable. Significant amount of experience programming using SAS, and fixed format file manipulation is required. Experience with Oracle, PGP and SFTP is a plus. Candidate must have experience working with SAS in the Microsoft Windows environment with experience scheduling and running stand alone jobs on a PC.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· 7 years development with strong analysis and development skills
· 5 years SAS development
· 5 years Excel
· 5 years Statistical Data Analysis
· 5 years experience with data quality or data validation
· 5 years windows server
· 3 years FTP
· 3 years XML
Additional preferred (not required) Skill Requirements
· Project Management
· Power Designer
A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
