Position: Websphere Portal Developer
Location: Jacksonville, FL
Duration: 6 month contract

Websphere Portal Developer- WebSphere Portal, Websphere App Server, OOAD, Java, J2EE, Application Development, App Design, ClearCase, SQL

Developers (DEVs) are responsible for the detail design documentation, development, evaluation and system performance testing, unit testing and maintenance of internally developed and externally purchased applications created for business partners.

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

·         Develops business relationships and integrates activities with other IT departments, i.e., Security, Database Administrators, etc., to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts;

·         Responsible for the detail design documentation, development, unit testing and maintenance of internally developed applications and externally purchased software products;

·         Provides Subject Matter Expertise (SME) input to fellow IT staff on workability of designs, architecture, and testing. Researches and recommends solutions to client requirements;

·         Write detailed technical specifications for entire systems (made up of several subsystems). Identify integration points. Review technical specs created by junior developers. Ensure sufficient quality and compliance of documentation to architectural standards.

·         Translates specification document requirements into code. Creates or modifies code for complex system designs that span platforms. Ensures code complies with BCBSF architectural and SDLC standards;

·         Code to and create Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and services;

·         Provides scope, sizing and estimates time required to complete code and provides this information to the project manager for input to the project plan. Determines impacts and integration points. May participate in capacity planning with project manager or functional manager;

·         Perform Unit Testing and Prepare Application for Release to Testing Team. Analyze Defects Found in Testing and Fix Coding Errors;

·         Supports application throughout all of the phases of the System Development Life Cycle;

·         Coordinate with areas for integration architecture solutions and determine the integration approach;

·         Review vendor research and conduct gap analysis, make vendor recommendation to technical team and client.

 

Job Requirements:

·         Bachelors degree in Computer Science/ IT or equivalent work experience;

·         5 or more years of progressive technical experience performing coding, configuration, deployment, and systems integration;

·         Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle, product development methodologies, database methodologies and system integration;

·         Senior Level Developer with 5 or more years of development experience using IBM Websphere Portal 7.0;

·         5 or more years of demonstrated experience programming using Java J2EE language, SQL, an Eclipse based Tool like  RAD or RSA, and development experience using Hibernate and Spring;

·         Demonstrated experience using a source code management tool, such as Subversion or Clear Case or an equivalent code stream management tool;

·         5 or more years of demonstrated experience using IBM Websphere Application server 6.0 /7.0;

·         Development experience using IBM MQ-Series;

·         Experience using HTML and XML technologies;

·         Demonstrated experience with UNIX (AIX) operating systems;

·         Must have development experience with web services and using Services Oriented Architecture (SOA).

·         Must have extensive experience with Object Oriented Analysis and Design;

·         Must have extensive development experience using a relational database, such as Oracle;

·         Experience with unit testing, debugging, change management and release management procedures;

·         Excellent communication and relationship skills required;

·         Must have previous experience providing Production support;
