Are you looking for a long-term contract? Are you looking to work a few extra hours on the weekend? If so, please read on!
This is a long-term contract. The work is about five hours per week, 20/month, and it is all done during the weekends. However, if any emergencies come up we would need your immediate assistance.
Based in Santa Monica, we are a rapidly growing innovative publicly-traded internet technology company. We are expanding and need a Linux Systems Administrator / Network Engineer to maintain our system architecture, manage our networks, and oversee the security of our infrastructure.
What you need for this position:
- 5 years of system administration experience (Security Design, Administration, Engineering, Development, Virtualization, Information Systems Auditing, Security Assessments, Encryption, Firewall & IDS Configuration and Management, Penetration Testing, Risk Management, and Threat Mitigation)
- Strong Linux systems administration experience; CentOS is a must
- Experience with PostgreSQL
- Experience with network monitoring tools such as Nagios
- Barracuda and Juniper firewall experience
- Sonicwall VPN experience
- Experience with Cisco routers and switches
- Open to traveling between our Santa Monica office and data center in Downtown LA.
What you'll be doing:
- Configure and manage network engineering, network operations center, and network management systems.
- Oversee the system architecture once established; Performs system administration functions, maintains and updates switch configurations, Virtual Private Network, firewall, and load balancer rules.
- Responsible for secondary failover connectivity and database backup architecture, all network connectivity, and backup power supply.
- Monitors hardware systems for health, troubleshoot errors, initiates backup hardware and installs new hardware as necessary.
- Maintains computer hardware and network infrastructure for the registry.
- Introduce and integrate new technologies into existing data center environments
- Manage security Alerts and incident management
