Job Title: Web Developer

Location: Elk Grove Village, IL 60007-1018(Locals Only)

BASIC FUNCTION:

Design, develop and implement Web-based, mobile, and ePub applications. Ensure appropriate testing, certification and project

management of applications.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Maintain, enhance, and manage existing journal Web sites using XML/CSS. Create and edit online journal pages.

· Facilitate bi-weekly conference calls with Highwire Press to discuss and troubleshoot Web-based project issues. Attend Highwire

Press Publishers meetings.

· Integrate APIs/Web Services to create new Portal modules and applications.

· Plan, develop, and test new Web/mobile applications as identified by the division's strategic plan.

· Manage and program content modules for the division's portal engine, as identified in the 3-year strategic plan requirements.

Update portal engine content and maintain timeliness of featured links.

· Develop database-driven Web interfaces for rapid, real-time information sharing.

· Assist in physical and logical database and Web site design.

· Design, code and test technical solutions.

· Troubleshoot and test applications through various browsers and recommend solutions to managers.

· Collaborate with the Department of Information Technology to ensure adherence to AAP electronic system practices and

procedures as well as development standards. Assist in ensuring Web site development deadlines and schedules are adhered to.

· Develop internal and external meeting objectives and agendas for projects.

· Participate in solution design, concept visualization, and defining and documenting functional and technical requirements.

· Maintain knowledge of web-based and mobile/ePub applications and industry trends.

· Update and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

· Cross train with appropriate staff as assigned.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field or an equivalent combination of relevant

education and work experience required.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum two to three years' experience developing, designing and maintaining Web sites in various formats, including ASP.net, C#

or .net driven applications. Experience with mobile technology, design, project management, and proposal development strongly

preferred.

ESSENTIAL SKLLS:

Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and

collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication

skills essential, as well as proficiency with MS Office, Internet-related applications and publishing software tools. Practical experience

in various file formats and graphic programs, Adobe Acrobat, HTML, SGML, XML, XHTML, RSS, CSS, SQL, JavaScript, SharePoint, PHP,

open/closed content management tools, ePub Standard 3.0, Flash and/or Active Server Pages.
