Contract
Client builds and operates a global eCommerce Platform that powers a range of websites including multi-merchant marketplaces like Sears.com, Kmart.com and MyGofer.com. Extending the reach of this core platform to power a broad range of applications is fundamental to the growth of Sears as a technology product company.
Client is looking for energetic and talented associates driven to deliver solutions for an expansive eCommerce initiative. We are looking for Senior Developers who will work with other software developers, architects and project managers to create customer-facing application components and services. As a member of the team, you will have the chance to work on innovative solutions on a highly scalable eCommerce platform. This position is responsible for working on the development and design of the customer-facing pieces of the eCommerce web site, using new technologies and concepts to quickly deliver functionality for our customers. Senior Java Developers will educate and mentor other associates in complex technical solutions. The online channel is a key focus area for the company and is growing at an aggressive rate, creating an exciting workplace and utilizing your skills to their potential. This individual will use agile development methodology to deliver next generation products and applications.
The ideal candidate is passionate and extremely knowledgeable about cutting-edge technology, design framework, must be able to think fast on their feet, entrepreneurial/startup mindset, creative and willing to adapt to a fast-moving and ambiguous environments. This individual is very hands-on with codes and capable to developing proof of concepts on his/her own. He/she must have effective communication skills and ability to present at senior management level. He/she must be able to operate independently and autonomously. Maturity, judgment, negotiation skills, influence and leadership skills are all essential.
Key Requirements:
- 5-15 years experience in developing web applications, e-Commerce experience a plus
- Five years industry experience with demonstrated results
- Passion for Java and web technologies
- Proven focus on the front-end / UI related work and frameworks (YUI experience a plus)
- Your expertise with UI frameworks will influence the future framework / platform choice.
- Ability to adapt to new development environments, changing business requirements and learning new systems highly desired
- Core competencies in Java, JSP, HTTP and JavaScript is required.
- Object Oriented Design and Programming, tier components (JDBC, Servlets, JMS, JNDI, etc.), Java/J2EE design patterns, Web Services and stand alone Java applications
- Experience developing SOAP, REST, JSON services is a plus
- Deep understanding of web services software architectural and design issues.
- Proven results oriented person with a delivery focus – especially in the areas of writing efficient, high-performance, reliable and maintainable code.
- Works well in a team environment and be able to effectively drive cross-team solutions that have complex dependencies and requirements.
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Thorough understanding of software development lifecycle and methodologies including code reviews and version control software such as CVS or Subversion.
- Experience with E-Commerce or other order processing systems
- Bachelors degree – preferably in computer science – or equivalent experience
