Role: Database Administrator (SQL)
Location:- St. Louis
Duration:-12 month contract
Occasional travel to Anaheim -
Reports to: Team Lead or Project Manager
Summary:
Provide technical support for the database environment including overseeing the development and organization of the databases, assessment and implementation of new technologies, and providing Information Technology with a long-term perspective on database technology.
Duties:
• Develop a methodology for the ongoing assessment of database performance and the identification of problem areas
• Develop a security scheme for the database environment, as well as assisting in disaster recovery if necessary
• Provide leadership during the development and enhancement of production applications including working with applications, technical support and operations during the design, development and implementation of applications
• Work with the transaction processing area to develop both the physical and the logical database administration functions and assists in the development of processing database and computing environments
• Work with others in IT to build the logical database area and provide technical guidance during all phases of the development process
• Work with vendors in evaluating and implementing new technologies
• Integrate with client and project teams to develop key relationships and foster/promote a consultative approach, contributing to the overall consulting strategy and operations across all projects
• Author status reports to Blue Mountain Labs, internal stakeholders, clients, team members, and other project/program leaders
• Interface, collaborate, and consult with the client business and technical staff, as well as BML consultants
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in IT, Computer Science, or related field
• 3+ years Microsoft SQL Server administration experience
• 3+ years enterprise-level consulting experience
• 3+ years of healthcare industry experience is a plus
• 2+ years IT operation with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
• Strong ability to translate business requirements into data solutions
• Strong MS SQL Server database design skills; well familiar with normalization concepts
• Strong data modeling skills (conceptual modeling, entity relationship modeling, etc.)
• Strong SQL scripting skills; well familiar with all SQL Server database objects
• Strong familiarity with extraction, transformation, load (ETL) routines
• Strong familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) package creation
• Strong familiarity with data warehousing concepts and design considerations
• Deep knowledge in log shipping, DB mirroring and snapshot/merge/transaction replication
• Experience with Master Data Services configuration, setup, and maintenance
• Experience with MS SQL Server in high availability strategies
• Experience with XML storage and maintenance within SQL Server
• Performance tuning strategies: indexing, SQL tuning, etc.
• Must work within AHS Data Services standards, policies and procedures
• Experience in disaster recovery and planning
• Experience with Database Design and Schema Design
• Production or development environment experience with Data Warehouse and Data Marts to support business intelligence software
• Experience with Cloud based systems or distributed systems such as Hadoop, MongoDB, CouchDB, MapReduce knowledge
• Knowledge of SQL Server Analysis Services and Reporting Services helpful
• Knowledge of structured iterative and agile development styles helpful
• Advanced analytical skills and extreme attention to detail
• Able to prioritize effectively and meet strict deadlines while managing multiple, competing tasks
• Strong team player able to form functional work relationships with peers and superiors
• Superior verbal and written communication skills, with ability to troubleshoot problems in person, by phone, or email

• Experience with RMAN
• Experience with Unix and/or Red Hat Linux
• Oracle Enterprise Linux experience
• Experience with Unix scripting
• Experience with stored procedure development, testing, and implementation
• Knowledge of and experience with database configuration and installation
• Ability to handle day-to-day database administration, including troubleshooting database problems, upgrading database software, and maintaining all aspects of Oracle databases
MySQL
Experience with MySQL Stored Procedures, Performance Tuning, Queries, Tables and related database functions
