Need Postgre SQL Developer :: Direct Client

Position             : Postgre SQL Developer

Location            : Irvine, CA 

Duration            : Long Term

Client                 : SIM

 

Primary responsibilities

• Work with the current engineering/development staff in a backend platform migration from MSSQL to PostgreSQL.
• Assist MSSQL developers when possible with their current responsibilities while working with them to convert schema, code, and ETL processes to PostgreSQL.
• Build new Postgre SQL server environments and provide administration support (Backups, security, performance monitoring and tuning, replication).
• Support current middle-tier Postgre SQL environment.
• Maintain effective working relationships with other fellow IT staff members and internal customers.

 

Minimum Qualifications

• 3-4 years of experience developing on Postgre SQL.
• Strong PL/PGSQL coding ability.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL ETL solutions.
• Understanding of PostgresSQL replication (synchronous and asynchronous).
• PostgreSQL administration experience (Installation, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, security management and backup/recovery).
• Any formal experience with MSSQL Server or a strong willingness to ramp up quickly on the platform.

 

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with non-RDBMS solutions such as Hadoop, MongoDB, Cassandra, and Couchbase.
• Experience with storage technologies, specifically NetApp.
• Familiarity with SCRUM development cycles.
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration development.
• Any web/application development experience is a plus.
• Cloud computing platform experience is a plus.
