Title: Hadoop Architect

Location: Bellevue,WA

Duration: 12+ Months

Experience: 12+ Years

Position responsibilities: 

• 12+ years of experience in Java/J2EE based technologies.

• 7+ years of experience in Hadoop area with minimum of 4+ years in Hortonworks.

• Experience in HA/DR solutions on Hadoop platform or Upgrade of HortonWorks Hadoop from over version to another. 

• Experience in 5+ years of experience in systems or database administration experience on Linux-based systems.

• Individual must be conversant with caching, scalability, load balancing and performance tuning aspects.

• Should have knowledge with analytical tools, languages, or libraries (e.g. SAS, Mahout).

• Hands-on experience with productionalizing" Hadoop applications (e.g. administration, configuration management, monitoring, debugging, and performance tuning) is a big plus.

• Strong understanding of best practices and standards for Hadoop application design and implementation is required.

• Hadoop Administration experience must include but not limited to

• Installing, configuring, monitoring, and administering large Hadoop clusters

• Backup & Recovery of HDFS.

• Replication & High Availability.

• Securing the cluster using Kerberose, LDAP Integration, and/or using Sentry.

• Managing & Scheduling jobs.

• Managing Hadoop Queues, Access Controls, user quotas etc.

• Tuning and Capacity Planning.

• Monitoring and troubleshoot Big Data clusters using a variety of open source and proprietary toolsets.

• Real working experience on Big Data Use Cases & Development is a must.

• Previous experience with highly-scalable or distributed RDBMS (Teradata, Netezza, Greenplum etc.) and knowledge of cloud computing infrastructure (e.g. Amazon Web Services EC2, Elastic MapReduce) and considerations for scalable, distributed systems is desired. 

• Evaluate and propose new tools and technologies to meet the needs of the organization.

• Knowledge of NoSQL platforms (e.g. key-value stores, graph databases, RDF triple stores) is an added advantage.

• Hands-on experience using any Messaging Technologies (preferably open source RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Qpid, etc.)

• Hands-on experience using Apache Solr preferred.

• Excellent written and verbal communications is a must.
