1. Windows Server NT4/W2K/W2003/W2008 Administration 3-5+ years in a VMware/Vsphere environment
2. Server Health and Capacity Monitoring via SCOM
3. Enterprise Level 2 Server Troubleshooting/ Ticket Resolution
Our perfect candidate is a Mid-Sr (3-5yrs) Server Administrator with primary responsibility of supporting Dell/HP Servers running Windows NT4, W2K, W2003, W2008, and W2012 in a virtual and enterprise environment (500+ servers).
PCI Server Operations:
- Troubleshooting Virtual Host performance issues and Provide Hardware and Operating System Support
- Data Center Support Operating systems: W2003 and W2008
- Hardware: Dell and HP server and VMWare platforms
- Monitor server health using enterprise Tools (SCOM, VCM, SCCM,Vsphere)
- Plan and Implement Changes intended to: - Roll-out patches, new versions of system software and firmware of supported servers
- Update parameters or changes in the configuration
- Server installation and certification for internal and business projects
- Test disaster recovery for applications
- EOL server hardware through migrations and retirements
- Interface with Application support team in changes needed for application upgrades or problem resolution
- Day to day problem resolution relating to Wintel servers supported
Day to Day Responsibilities:
*Our candidate will be responsible for a portfolio of 150-200 servers, managing problem tickets out of a Remedy System. Most of the issues are a result of server downs, potential application issues, etc. This person will also be responsible for using SCOM for monitoring and health management.
Their scope of responsibility includes:
*Day to day troubleshooting and configuring:
- Dell and HP server platforms
- Operating system: NT4, W2K, W2003, W2008, W2012
- System Software: Print queues, Antivirus, Monitoring tools, etc.
- Server capacity management
- General requirements from users
*There is a proactive configuration and maintenance component that includes planning and implementing changes intended to:
- Roll-out patches, new versions of system software and firmware of supported servers
- Update parameters or changes in the configuration
- Massive moves for disk space balancing or server replacement,
- Server Reboots
- Server installation for internal and business projects
*Interaction with other technical teams within the client to perform above tasks
*Virtualization: VMware, vSphere 5: Within VMware, we use a vSphere Client to see all the servers, used as a remote access to actual servers versus a physical server, connection, etc. For the most part, our candidate won't be configuring new VMs themselves, just loading them. They need to understand basic information of how to use the console.
