More of a junior to mid level Java Developer position. Important pieces are MVC/SCA knowledge in addition to Spring/Switchyard framework experience. See if you can find me any local resources first and if no luck I'll look at non-locals.

 

Summary: Responsible for the design, development and testing of operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for computing applications. Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required. 2 to 4 years OR interemdiate level of experience in specified technology required. Skills and Competencies: Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage one's time. Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery. Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue. Knowledge of XML, Java, JSP and other relevant software. Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to systems, such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc. Major Job Duties and Responsibilities: Modify existing databases and database management systems. Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions. Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations. Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project. Perform other duties as assigned.

Looking for junior Java Software engineers or developers with MVC/SCA knowledge, working in Java with Switchyard or Spring framework to create REST services; use a variety of caching mechanisms and service oriented components to serve data for a large enterprise.
Needed:
• 3+ years development experience using Java and Spring/Switchyard framework.
• 1+ years with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures
• Familiar with all the primitives types and operators in Java.
• Understands the class loading process and how class loaders work
• Can concurrency and multithreading and can identify why it may or may not improve performance or behavior. e.g. wait/notify/notifyAll, SwingUtils.invokeLater, the concurrency library
• Can use checked exceptions, generics and enums
• Can time a small benchmark and get reproducible results
• Can write a very simple client server TCP service
• Some knowledge of JVM internals (garbage collection, bytecode generation, java memory model implementation)
• Understand when and why to use design patterns such as Singleton, Factory, Fly-weight, Builder, Object Pool, Iterator, Strategy, Visitor, and Composite.
• Mid comfort level with Unix
• Good written and verbal communications skills

Helpful
• Degree in software engineering
• Experience in creating and consuming REST and/or Soap services
• Experience in both Linux (RedHat and Ubuntu) & Windows environment is a plus
• Experience and belief in writing unit tests as a valuable way of repeating toward deliverables
• Experience with no sql database
• Pair Programming
• Test-driven Development / Behavior Driven Development
• Infrastructure Automation (Vagrant/Chef in particular)
• Experience with testing frameworks (JUnit and JBehave helpful)
