Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Develop database models in a financial, e-commerce setting.
* Work on database modeling strategies from conceptual models, through logical models, to the physical data model.
* Employ current modeling methodologies using top-down data models.
* Partner with senior DB modelers, database architects, DBAs, analysts, stakeholders, and others to define and analyze data requirements to support business processes.
* Work with DBAs to develop solution patterns, data flow diagrams, data models, ER models, and architectural specifications.
* Contribute to Enterprise-class database architectures across the organization.
* Document database schemas using accepted notations such as entity relationship diagrams.
* Review system resource usage to ensure adherence to business requirements.
* Perform tests on database changes and migrations.
* Follow database development standards.
* Perform other duties as needed.
Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar field, and/or equivalent work experience
* Proven background with the Microsoft technology platform as a modeler of service-oriented enterprise applications
* Understanding of entity relationships within and across database systems
* 0-2 years' Enterprise OLTP database modeling experience
* Experience with standard modeling notations (Information Engineering, Barker Notation, etc.)
* Experience with SQL Server
* Must be a detail-oriented, security-conscious database modeler
* Knowledge of SQL Server 2005/2008 administration and optimization
* Experience with appropriate tools, including SQL Management Studio, Query Analyzer, Profiler, Performance Monitor, Embarcadero, Visio, Power Designer, and Visual Studio Database Edition for Data Modeling
