Job Title : Sybase Database Administration
Location : Miamisburg, Dayton(OH), USA.
Duration : 3 Months
Preferably ready for F2F interview at onsite at Miamisburg.
Primary Skill : Sybase
Secondary Skills : Oracle, MSSQLServer Database expertise
Job Description:-
Solid expertise in Sybase 12.x , 15.7 core database administration and as developer DBA
Installation, configuration and Management of Sybase binary installations and supporting production databases in 24 x 7 environment with critical SLAs
Deployments & data fixing, monitoring job schedules and troubleshooting failures
Expertise in tools like dbartisan and also at command level
Ensuring data consistency, jobs management, backup and restore, shell scripting and strong Sybase technical skills as below :
i. Sybase installation and configuration.
ii. Creation of database and log devices.
iii. Creating/altering/dropping Databases.
iv. Dump, Backup and Restore Databases/Logs
v. Reconfiguration i.e., Memory, Cache, Disk resources, Max Users Connections etc.
vi. Checking database consistency periodically with checkstorage.
vii. Running update statistics periodically.
viii. Setting up the DBCC databases for fast DBCC to avoid disk contentions.
ix. Implemented security on all database servers to ensure the protection of data from both internal and external attacks.
x. Analyzing business requirements & implementing them.
xi. Analyzing existing service management processes & modifying them as needed.
xii. Helping development team by suggesting design, architectural changes.
xiii. Setting up the DBCC databases for fast DBCC to avoid disk contentions.
xiv. Porting of Data between the servers.
xv. Migration of data from one server to another server with different SQL server versions using BCP utility.
xvi. Recovery of user databases.
xvii. Fixing the space allocation corruption in the databases through various DBCC options.
xviii. Planning the Backup and Recovery policies.
xix. Writing shell scripts for automating the dumps and load jobs.
xx. Placing tables and indexes on segment to spread I/O.
xxi. Setting the thresholds for Log space management and audit queues.
xxii. Redesigning the indexes to improve adhoc query performance.
xxiii. Optimization of query based on user's requirement.
xxiv. Managing the audit services e.g. audit queues etc.
Self starter, Application understanding and working expertise with different teams, understanding ITIL and change management
Excellent client communication and interfacing skills, Multi database skilled preferred.
