POSITION: Senior Java Developer
LOCATION: Washington, DC (LOCAL RESOURCE PREFERRED)
.LENGTH of CONTRACT: 6 months with possibility for extension
Experience in Mortgage a HUGE plus.
Technical Skills:
Strong Core J2EE/Java. Understanding of an Application's Architecture Layers (Presentation, Service, Data, etc.) and associated Frameworks (Struts, Spring, Hibernate). Well-experienced building an Application from Scratch. Production Support. Build Scripting Toolkit (Ant and/or Maven) and Unit Testing (JUnit) Framework. Continuous integration and continuous deployment. Agile experience a plus.
Job Description:
1. An effective communicator. They need to be able to highlight a steel thread through one of their previous applications. I'm looking for a discussion of its architecture layers (presentation, service, data, etc.) and associated frameworks (struts, spring, hibernate, etc.). This activity provides a lot of insight about the candidate.
2. Greenfield development work. They should have experience in starting a new project from scratch. This keeps developers fresh on new technologies, processes, pattern, trends, etc. Production support of more than 2 to 3 years is tough since technology is blazing forward fast.
3. They should have a strong skill set working with a particular build scripting toolkit (Ant and/or Maven) and unit testing (JUnit) framework. Having some insight into continuous integration and continuous deployment would be great.
4. Independent, as well as, a team player. Willing to take the lead and drive the implementation. Solutions oriented providing multiple options and associated pros/cons.
5. Agile experience would be nice.
