Roles and Responsibilities:

Qualifications

• 10+ years Oracle DBA
• Expert level knowledge of Oracle RAC especially for Oracle 11GR2 version
• Oracle certification is a plus
• Expert level knowledge of Database backup and recovery process using RMAN and HA solutions like Active Data Guard.
• Expert knowledge of database internals for tuning applications written in Pl/SQL.
• Direct experience with Oracle & Sybase running on Linux
• Hands-on experience with different aspect of database tuning, application (PL/SQL) and SQL tuning.
• Experience with VERITAS Quick I/O, VERITAS Cluster Server, Cluster file systems and Volume Manager highly desirable.
• Experience with Database Virtualization (Co-hosting and Co-locating)
• Strong knowledge of Sybase and SQL server is a plus
• Strong experience in Data-archival, Data-mining and data tiering.
• Experience in making good decisions with limited information
• Must be able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be strong and effective communicator

Additional Skills:

• Ability to design High Availability configurations specific to Oracle technologies
• Design and document database architecture
• Set standards for databases in the context of implementation, monitoring, backup, recovery and performance tuning
• Ensure that storage, backup and recovery procedures are in line with company standards
• Perform complex database activities which may require extensive research and analysis
• Participate in design reviews and system testing
• Review engineering and deployment procedures to look for opportunities for driving down operational costs
• Provide database level impact analysis for database consolidation/migration
• Identifying gaps in current standards/services and negotiating enterprise vs. project solutions and developing standard application architectures, frameworks.
• Managing multiple assignments simultaneously, while working independently and with other engineers and SME.
• Identifying, recommending, and implementing emerging IT trends, developments, and improvements/solutions
• Excellent problem solving skills and technical reasoning
